Armed And Dangerous: Britain’s Racist Police

red. media’s first ever documentary delves into the experiences of Britain’s Black community, including insights from Kaba’s family and other families who have lost loved ones due to racist police violence. We also hear from international athletes and young Black men residing in London’s council estates, providing a raw and intimate glimpse into their lived experiences of institutional racism in the UK.

On September 5th, 2022, a 24-year-old Black man and soon-to-be father, Chris Kaba, was killed by a single shot to the head by a UK police officer. His death sparked widespread protests across the country.

Campaigners argue that the UK police force is a danger to civilians, and gets away with acts of violence and murder with impunity. Sadly, Kaba’s death is not an isolated incident. Since 1990, a staggering 1,833 individuals have lost their lives while in police custody or following police contact. This translates to more than one person losing their life at the hands of British police every single week for over three decades.

Shockingly, only one police officer has ever been prosecuted for causing a death, and this was for manslaughter, not murder. A disproportionate number of those who have died at the hands of the police are from the Black community with statistics showing that UK police are four times more likely to use force against Black individuals.
